These two moms are out of options — and waiting on us.
Hey guys! I hope everyone had a good first day of school!
As we parents are busy this week, identifying things like–
What school supplies do I still need?
What time do I have to leave in the morning?
Who said it was a good idea to have three kids?
Our school counselors, social workers, and teachers are busy identifying immediate needs, now that they have “eyes on” some of our kids again. Such is the case with this one.
Here’s the situation:
Community Programs reached out yesterday with an urgent need for two moms. One has three kids (1st, Kinder, and Pre-K), and the other has one child in Pre-K.
Two moms with no other options
Two moms with no support system
Two moms who want to work — and work as long as possible
Two moms who just want to know their kids are safe, happy, and well cared for
Two moms whose kids are too young to stay home alone
Two moms who can’t afford after-school care — even at the discounted rate
Just a few days ago, I thought:
“We did it — all the moms are covered for this year!”
But now… we’ve got two more.
And the hardest part?
I couldn’t say yes.
It wasn’t a no… just not a yes yet.
We can’t say yes unless we have the funds.
Here’s the “deets” (as the cool kids say):
4 kids
4 ways to help
9½ months of care
Ways You Can Help:
Cover a Month
$111/month per child
Cover a Grading Period
1st grading period – $277
2nd grading period – $333
3rd grading period – $444
Cover the Full Year
$1,054 per child
Screw it– Let’s Do It!
$4,216 for all four, for all year
Pick a kid. Cover a month. Sponsor a grading period. Fund the year if you can.
These two moms are doing everything they can — and they just need us to do what we do best.
